About the Venue

Here Be Dragons will be held at the Burnaby Campus of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in buildings SE02 and SE06.

Venue Location

BCIT is located in Burnaby, BC, just south of Hwy 1 at 3700 Willingdon Ave, Burnaby, BC. It is easily accessed by transit and parking is plentiful.

Venue Layout

Here Be Dragons will be in rooms and spaces of two BCIT buildings – SE02 and SE06. These two buildings run east-to-west and are connected by a small lounge area between the east end of SE02 and the west end of SE06.

Venue Food Services

BCIT Food Services are extremely limited on the weekend.
What food options are available is dicussed below.

Restaurants

There is only one campus restaurant open during the convention, which is a full service Tim Hortons. It is open from 8 am to 2 pm and is located about the equivalent of a block from our venue space. It’s location is marked on our BCIT Parking / Transit / Food Map PDF.

Vending Machines

There are several vending machines available on the second floors of SE02 & SE06. Five machines are along one wall of the lounge connecting SE02 to SE06, and three are against a wall across from the Main Programming room. Most are for a wide variety of hot and cold beverages, but two dispense snacks.

BCIT vending machines ONLY accept CARD and CONTACTLESS forms of payment.

Bring Your Own

If you are someone who needs regular, healthy meals, we advise you to bring your own food, just to be on the safe side.

You can even bring items that need to be warmed as there is a bank of four microwaves available in the lounge area that connects SE02 to SE06 (they are marked on the venue map above).
